Pause in Training Request — this form requests a Leave of Absence from your flight training program. Your request will be reviewed by our SEVIS agents (Lazaro Gonzalez, enrollment@flyingacademy.com).

Important SEVIS rules before you start:

Traveling outside the U.S. — pause requests are limited to 4 days or less. This keeps your I-20 valid; SEVIS terminates I-20s for absences over 4 days and Flying Academy no longer processes reactivations. You will also need a SEVIS agent (DSO) signature on page 2 of your I-20 before you travel.
Traveling inside the U.S. (another state) — pause requests are limited to 7 days or less. No DSO signature required, but you must complete your 22 attendance hours the week you leave and maintain your $2,000 minimum training-account balance.
Need longer than these limits? Do not travel before emailing enrollment@flyingacademy.com — a longer absence outside the U.S. will terminate your I-20 and require a brand-new I-20 + new visa interview to return.
Leaves more than 5 months — your I-20 is automatically terminated and cannot be reactivated. You will need a new I-20 and a new visa interview.
Medical leaves require a signed letter from a licensed physician.

Requirements acknowledgement

Required for ALL pause requests. Your SEVIS agent cannot process your request without these acknowledgements, your signature, and (for travel outside the U.S.) your signed I-20.

Minimum $2,000 balance on account — I confirm I currently meet the $2,000 minimum balance required per my Flying Academy training agreement. I understand the SEVIS consequences — pause requests are capped at 4 days outside the U.S. or 7 days inside the U.S. (another state). If I stay outside the U.S. more than 4 days, my I-20 will be terminated by SEVIS and Flying Academy will not reactivate it — to return I would need a brand-new I-20 and a new visa interview. I will complete my 22 attendance hours the week I leave — (required for inside-U.S. pauses) before starting my pause, I will finish my required 22 hours of training/study for that week so I remain in compliance with my M-1 status. I have informed my Instructor — I've discussed this pause with my primary flight instructor. I have informed Dispatcher and Front Desk — they've been notified so scheduled lessons can be cancelled / rebooked.
